Interview:
Hi, Paula!!
Welcome to Rex Robot Reviews- excited to have you here today! I would like to thank you for taking the time to join us for the interview.
1. Paula, which character did you enjoy writing the most and why?
I loved working with Davina. Her sorrow touched me deeply and I wanted her to find happiness. I saw Rob through her eyes and she helped me fall in love with him. I also knew that beneath her sadness there was a playful, kind-hearted, sassy woman just dying to be released. It was fun watching her open up.
2. What inspired your novel Ravished by a Highlander?
4. Would you rather see your books on the TV screen or the big screen? Why?
5. How would you say that your interests influence your writing?
7. Where is your favorite spot to read/write?
8. If you can take the books of only one author with you to a desert island, which author would you choose? Why?
9. So, what comes after Ravished by a Highlander? Excited about any other releases or works in progress?
10. Do you have any upcoming events? If so, where can your readers find you?
2. What inspired your novel Ravished by a Highlander?
Actually, Callum MacGregor from Laird of the Mist (Rob's father) inspired me. I was really excited about doing a series featuring his children. Callum's always been a favorite character of mine and I knew that creating a son worthy of his father's genes would be a challenge. Once I started plotting and knowing the kind of man Rob was going to be, the rest just fell into place. Also, I love history, especially British history and this time period (the Stuart era) is inspiration in itself.
3. If Ravished had a soundtrack, which songs would you choose?
Oh, I love this question! I listen to music while I write so I already have the soundtrack ready :) It would include, Wild Horses, sung by Gavin Rossdale, Anywhere by Evanesence (Are all authors inspired by their music?) Wallace Song by Clan Wallace (They are amazing and should be Googled. Seriously,) Caoineadh Cu Chulainn by Bill Whelan, played by Davy Spillane, and Tears Of Angel by RyanDan.
4. Would you rather see your books on the TV screen or the big screen? Why?
Hmm, another great question. I think the big screen because the budget would be bigger and since it's an historical, it would take more money to bring it all to life. But I'll take either.
5. How would you say that your interests influence your writing?
Well, my passions are medieval history, Scotland, and kings. I'm obsessed with kings, so my love for those things is what I will probably always write about.
6. What do you do when you aren't writing?
I'm a mom of three teens so I'm always, and I do mean always, busy. I love to shop with my daughters or watch an action packed movie with my son. I'm also very close to my mom and visit her every night. (She lives across the street) I love to read but sadly I don't have much time for it anymore. Oh, and I do research, lots of research for pleasure and for my books.
7. Where is your favorite spot to read/write?
In the bathtub when everyone is asleep or in the beautiful park up the street. There is a museum in the park called The Cloisters. It's part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art featuring art and architecture of the European Middle Ages. It looks very much like a castle and the grounds around it are breathtaking. A wonderful place to write or just gather your thoughts.
8. If you can take the books of only one author with you to a desert island, which author would you choose? Why?
Only one? Ok, Guy Gavriel Kay. He's a brilliant author of thought provoking, profound fantasy. I've been reading him since the 80's. The Summer Tree...absolutely incredible. The Lions of Al Rassan, even better.
9. So, what comes after Ravished by a Highlander? Excited about any other releases or works in progress?
Yes, I'm very excited about my next book, Seduced By A Highlander, which will be available in September of this year. It features Tristan MacGregor, Rob's younger, reckless brother and Isobel Fergusson, clan enemy of the MacGregors. Tristan kind of threw me for a loop. I thought I had him all figured out but there was so much more beneath his swagger and self-confidence. He's is definitely going down as one of my favorite heroes.
10. Do you have any upcoming events? If so, where can your readers find you?
Not yet. I'm busy working on book three of the Children of the Mist series right now, but if anything comes up I will post it on my site.
Thank you, Paula!
It's been fun!
