Excerpt: The instant he left her, a screaming infant under the bright lights in a modern hospital room, he return and demanded an interview with Michael.
    "I'm going. You know the love I have with her is different. One life is all I want. I have watched her leave me and return for eons, and this time I'm going whether you approve or not."
     Michael studied Gabriel.   "Oh Gabriel ….Why do you want to go? Humans are only mortal. They are lesser beings than our kind."
"As you say," Gabriel nodded, "but, humans are also more than you give them credit for. Otherwise, she would not be compelled to return back there, especially not after the last horrid life. Why would a soul willfully return to pain unless the passion is more than you or I can imagine?"
    Michael deliberated. Gabriel spoke with such ferocity, making it difficult not to consider his request and, being a warrior himself, Michael could appreciate his friend putting up a fight for what he wanted. Michael sat forward in his chair, steepled his fingers, and gazed at the other Archangel.
     “What you ask is too dangerous, Gabriel.” Michael shook his head. “There’s no way to predict what could happen. Once they hear you’re down there . . . we couldn’t protect you.”
    “I’m willing to accept the risk.”
    “I’m glad to hear you are, but I’m not sure I want to accept the risks with you.”
Gabriel sighed in frustration. “Please allow me the chance. Just one life with her. I want to hold her with my arms and make love to her the way mortal men can."
    After a long silence, Michael sat back in his chair, his polished armor gleaming in the ethereal light from the Astral Plane, and nodded.  "One life. But, due to the risks, there will be rules and conditions."
    "Anything."
    "You have one earth cycle to entice the mortal woman to fall in love with you, true love. And you may not reveal your identity to her under any circumstances." Michael paused, probably for effect. He was not only the most powerful Archangel, but also the most dramatic. He stood and sheathed his massive sword. "If you fail, you will immediately return to the Akasha and there will be no other similar opportunity." His tone didn't allow for negotiation.
    Only twenty-four hours. That amount of time would have to be enough time. "Thank you, Michael," he told the retreating warrior.
"God speed," Michael called over his shoulder. "And good luck."

Welcome to Rex Robot Reviews, Amylynn! Can't wait to hear what you have to say- we're very excited to have you! Now, let me ask you some questions :)

Which character did you enjoy writing the most and why?

 My favorite character so far has been my pirate from The Sea Rose also out with Wicked Ink Press.  He is hot and sexy and funny – my kind of guy.

If Out of Heaven had a soundtrack, which songs would you choose?   

This song was originally conceived to a hard rock soundtrack while folding laundry with my iPod on.  I was listening to Nickleback specifically and the song was Burn it to the Ground.  The story was originally much darker.

Would you rather see your books on the TV Screen or the Big Screen? 

I wouldn’t care but if pressed I’d say Big Screen.  I was a film major in college and that would be a real hoot.

How would you say that your interests influence your writing?   

I’m such a reader and lover of research that I write and read a lot of historical.  Also, I’m a funny gal (I promise you) and so many of my characters are snarky and ironic.

What do you do when you aren't writing? 

Reading or cleaning up after my kids and dog.

Where is your favorite spot to read/write? 

I can read anywhere.  My husband is a musician and I have been known to read in ear-bleedingly-loud bars until his set.  Writing I do at my desk when the whole family is asleep.  I always have an action movie on in the background.

If you can take the books of only one author with you to a desert island, which author would you choose? Why?   

Wow – this question is just evil.  I’m going to modify the question.  I have a long term fantasy that I’m washed up on a deserted island with a hammock and a trunk full of books that I’ve been meaning to read but haven’t gotten around to yet.  Books like Don Quixote and The Name of the Rose.  I can lie in my gently swaying hammock, sipping coconut milk and munching on crab and pineapple, and read completely undisturbed all day long.  And when I finally finish that trunk, another will gently wash up with all new books.  Sounds like heaven doesn’t it?

So, what comes after Out of Heaven? Excited about any other releases or works in progress?  

The Sea Rose also just came out with my epub.  It’s a rollicking pirate tale.  I had a ton of fun writing it. Also, my Regency Romance novel is with an agent….so cross your crossables.

How do you handle the negative reviews and critiques you may receive? 

Bite your tongue! I’m sure you’ll hear the whining from wherever you are.

 

Any books that stand out from your childhood that you absolutely loved?

I read everything.  Of course, all the Judy Blume books, Madeline L’Engle – A Wrinkle in Time, and then the classics when I was a little older like Gone With The Wind.  My favorite book of all time stands as To Kill a Mockingbird but I’m a huge fan of the book The Princess Bride.  If you have only seen the movie and not read the book you are doing yourself a vast disservice.
