About Nichole Giles: Nichole Giles was born in Nevada, and moved with her parents
to a number of cities in and around the West. Writing is her passion, but

Descendant has a little bit of everything to please urban fantasy/paranormal YA fans. It is a very multi-layered story about Abby, a teenage girl with the special abilities of Healing and Sight and Kye, a boy she falls in love with. But there is so much more to it than just the romance. There is also faery mythology, alternative worlds, and past lives. With so much going on, it would have been easy for the plot to become muddled and convoluted. But Giles handles all the storylines deftly. And because of all of the different elements Giles integrates into Descendant, I felt it had a unique approach to such a ubiquitous genre. I tend to become exasperated with this genre fairly easily. It is so easy to go over the top. But I didn't feel that way reading Descendant. I only had some very minor quibbles (Abby - you are being chased by magical thugs...now is not the time to sightsee!). But overall I found it fun and interesting. I definitely recommend it to fans of the genre.
