If you seriously consider immortality, living forever, watching the world change consistently as you stay the same and watch as human life begins and ends over and over in a continuously tedious circle, does it still seem that appealing?

Gregory has lived for hundreds upon hundreds of years in virtual solitude simply existing as the creature that he is, surviving on the blood of humans while trying to distance himself from human life as much as possible.  He is alone, as his species dictates, and if death was an easy option, he would have taken it hundreds of years ago. His only pleasure in his eternal existence is literature, often spending days and nights reading the complete works of Shakespeare, or even creating his own pieces.  To aid in the passing of infinite time, Gregory finds himself observing a night class on literature at a local community college. But to his surprise it is not as he  anticipates- Someone is finally able to see past his mask and challenge everything he thought he understood.

Nikki Christian is unlike any human he has met before -so unique that she seems to have absolutely no fear of him. Determined to find out more about this obscure human girl, Gregory quickly finds his confusion turning to fascination to intense emotions he has never felt before, feelings he didn’t believe were possible for his kind.  As he continues to observe and create a bond he thought impossible, he finds himself battling his thirst and breaking every Immortal Rule set by his Queen. He knows he must destroy Nikki now that she is uncovering secrets of his kind that have been kept for ages, but is his instinct  to protect her and stay by her side  too overwhelming? 

I immensely enjoyed this story. The writing was excellent. It hosts the perfect amount of detail that throws the reader into the story and provides an accurate history without useless information. I loved the perspective of an ancient Immortal and the empathy the author was able to force on me. I pitied the main character!  The ending left me a wee bit frustrated, but it did provide a great set up for the next installment. I think that it is relatively rare to read this genre from the ancient vampire's perspective and would highly recommend it to all you Paranormal fans out there! I'm looking forward to reading the next novel in The Immortal Evolution series!!
