Texas Gothic had a really cool premise and I had high hopes for a scary, creepy, and - yes, gothic - ghost story.  But it really wasn't as creepy as I had hoped.  Amy and her sister can see ghosts.  Amy had a bad brush with one in the past and now tries to live normally and without using her magic.  Her sister, is a quirky mad-genius type who studies the scientific properties of paranormal activity.  There is also a local ghost legend and the ghost may be back.  Throw in an archeological dig, some old remains, old feuds and some mysterious happens.  Instead of reading like a ghost story, it had this "whodunit" feel to it, which was ok, but sometimes it made it feel a little hokey.  It was a fun and quick read, but it didn't have a lot of depth to it.  I know it sounds like I disliked it.  I liked it fine.  Really, I did. There just wasn't anything about it that was new or different for me to grasp onto.
