Julia's Thoughts:
The Lair is the second installment in an original take on the world of vampires by Emily McKay and I have to say that I'm impressed. I haven't read anything like The Farm series- it gave a refreshing new take on young adult dystopia AND vampires. It pumps out the plot twists like you wouldn't believe and the back and forth point of views between Carter, Mel and Lily will keep you flipping the pages.
Lily doesn't quite fascinate me like Mel, Sebastian and even Carter. Carter is still head over heels for Lily and at times his corny professions of love and being the over protective boyfriend will drive you nuts. But for whatever reason I can't keep myself from loving Carter and the fact that he is a genuine good guy who wants to help humanity. Even Mel. She's great. She's mysterious, I always want to know what she is thinking and what she's up to. Sebastian is equally as entertaining and I love his partnership with Mel.
The end of the book surprised me. It's jaw dropping good and I can't believe I didn't see any of it coming. I definitely recommend this book to fans of vampires, dystopia and young adult. It's a relentless, adventurous ride and you'll quickly find yourself through all 400+ pages!
