LIFE OF A BLOGGER: School
Life of a Blogger is a weekly meme by Novel Heartbeat. It gives us a chance to talk about non-bookish passions and interests.
I thought I would talk about my alma mater (and current employer): the University of Washington.
UW (pronounced "UDub") is just north of downtown Seattle. It was established in 1861. The color are purple and gold and the mascot is a husky. We have a costumed mascot named Harry the Husky, but also a live mascot malamute named Dubs. (Malamute...husky...close enough, I guess!) You can check out Dubs' blog here.
My great grandfather, grandmother, grandfather, 2 uncles, mom and dad all attended the UW. My grandfather was actually a professor of geography there for a long time. I wouldn't say we are like die-hard UW-for-life, but I certainly wouldn't be sad if my daughter decided to go there. I graduated with a dual degree in Anthropology and Comparative Religion with a minor in American Indian Studies. Super useful in everyday life. ;)
I like the campus is so pretty. Here are some of my favorite places on campus.
I love this view of Drumheller Fountain with Mt. Rainier in the background. There is nothing quite like it on a sunny day. |
This is Husky Stadium, which is situated on Lake Washington. Also, a gorgeous view on a sunny day |
The cherry blossoms in the quad. It is amazing. |
The Harry Potter-esque "Reading Room" in Suzzallo Library |
Actually, Suzzallo library is really cool. This is the grand staircase. |
This shot is taken from a web cam, so it isn't the best, but it shows Red Square nicely. Suzzallo library is the building on the left. |
Wowwwww! Your quad with the cherry blossoms is so pretty! I've never been to a school with a real campus like that so it blows my mind. And of course I love the library haha (Although I was spoiled - you know the library from Beauty and the Beast? It was modeled after the library at my school. Not that we're allowed to touch any of the books htere *pouts*)
