Sister's Fate is a prime of example of a book where everything has to fall apart to come back together.  Everyone is a lot less likeable and does things that make me scream "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" but somehow it manages to pull itself together and provide a satisfying ending.

Sister's Fate starts right at the end of Star Cursed.  Literally.  It could have just been one book.  It was a little jarring to be pulled so aruptly back into the story, but at least it starts off with a bang.  Thanks to Maura, Finn as lost his memories of loving Cate and it is devastating to her.  Cate valiantly tries to keep it together as she grapples with Maura's betrayal, the infighting between the Sisterhood, the refugees from the mental hospital, Tess' position as the Oracle, the loss of Finn and the Brotherhood's witch hunt.  There are also a burgeoning cast of characters and to be honest, I had a hard time keeping them apart.

The main crux of the series involves the prophecy that one sister will kill the other and we finally get to see this played out.  It was not how I expected at all, actually, so that was a pleasant surprise.  I also liked how Finn and Cate's story plays out.  Spotswood doesn't go for the easy out, but still manages to keep the romance there.  

Overall, I like this series quite a lot.  The semi-puritanical setting is interesting and the dynamics between the sisters are compelling and always changing.  Cate is a likeable character, but she is far from perfect and does not always do the most likeable thing.  But it makes her a real and relateable character, in my opinion.  Fans of witches or historical fiction settings should definitely check this series out!
