Shannon's Thoughts:

Sweet.  That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of this book.  The romance, the family situations, the friends.  All of it was just...very sweet.  And I kind of loved it.  It wasn't too mushy or over the top.  It dealt with some very real and hard subjects, but always maintained this lightness about it without completely glossing over those hard subjects.

I really liked Lauren and Colby's relationship.  They have an instant connection, but they don't necessarily connect right away. Lauren struggles with her feelings of loss and guilt after she moves in with her aunt and uncle after a bad incident with her mother.  Colby struggles against the expectations to play college football, while dealing with his own tragedy.

I also liked how the chapters are divided between Lauren (who narrates mostly in verse) and Colby (who narrates mostly in prose).  It makes it easy to differentiate between the two, but it also made Lauren's portions more interesting to me.  I'm not sure all readers would like this, but it worked for me.

Overall, if you are looking for a not-too-heavy, not-too-light story, I recommend checking this one out!
