Interview with author Destiny Blaine

Interview:
Hi, Destiny!!
Welcome to Rex Robot Reviews- excited to have you here today! I would like to thank you for taking the time to join us for the interview.

1. Destiny, which character do you enjoy writing the most and why?
Right now, I have a weakness for the tortured alpha male.

2. For readers that have not yet read any of your books, which would you suggest they read first?

That’s a great question. I’d probably suggest a short story or novella that isn’t in a series. Something recent like Domination Plantation or Inevitable Surrender.

3. What did you enjoy most about writing Damaged Goods (Sport Wives #4)?
I enjoyed writing about Suzy Illiani. Suzy has some serious flaws but what I love about her story is that while she wants to change for Marco, she doesn’t make life-changing decisions based on her desire to please him. It’s more or less just something that happens because Marco points out the errors of her ways and she’s the kind of heroine who doesn’t mind to face the truth and plan for change.  Best of all, after she takes charge of her life, she really likes the end results.

4. Could you tell us a little bit about what your writing process is like?
The writing process really varies from day to day and depends on the manuscript. Some stories call for a lot of research while others require none. Some take a lot of effort while others are just a blast to write.

5. What do you do when you aren't writing?
Right now, I do what my bosses tell me to do. I have two teenagers and they keep me hopping and their friends are almost as demanding.  There’s never a dull moment here!

6. So, what comes after Damaged Goods? Excited about any other releases or works  in progress?
I’m working on the Winning Virgin series for Siren submissions.  Within a few months, I should have everything completed that was either promised or sold on proposal to all of my publishers so I’m at a good place right now. I’m anxious to begin new projects. Shadowfire Press will release The Vampire’s Fated Kill of Mr. Gadget Man which is a steampunk paranormal so that’s exciting since steampunk is somewhat of a new venture for many writers.

7. If one of your books could be a movie, which one would you choose?
Lying Eyes. Who would be your dream cast? Brad Pitt would make a perfect Max Reynolds and Cameron Diaz is suited for the role of Audra.

8. What do you think about the Kindle and other e-readers and the effect they have on  the book community?
The industry is ever-changing.  We’re going to see more e-readers in the future. We’re going to see more digital and e-publishers. As authors, we’ll have choices we didn’t have five years ago. As readers, we’ll have options we didn’t know about five months ago. It’s a wonderful time to be involved in this industry and it’s an author’s market as much as a reader's market.

Thank you for taking time to interview me today. I've enjoyed spending time with you!

Dawn—Thanks for dropping by and for the compliments. I love these covers too and would like to pull the super-hunk straight from the cover of Damaged Goods. ;) I’m off to visit your blog over at: http://lovesbooksandmore.blogspot.com/ later today

Rex—Thank you for the wonderful interview. :) After promoting the blog stop yesterday, the DH kept me busy cleaning up the yard and garage as well as a little spring cleaning in my office. Glad we can catch up today and announce a winner! :) I hope to drop by often and really appreciate your support.

Ah Sagi! Thank you for dropping by. :) We had a ball at your place too: http://sagis-randomness.blogspot.com. I hope you and Julia will drop by my blog later this week to see the recap from the mini-tour:http://destinyblaine.blogspot.com/

As for writing a steampunk paranormal book: That’s a great question. I added a few steampunk elements to a paranormal manuscript in order to change things up a bit. Michael, my publisher at Shadowfire, liked the manuscript and we’re looking forward to releasing The Vampire’s Fated Kill of Mr. Gadget Man.

Tamsyn—Good to 'see' you today. I’ve missed visiting with you at the chats and loops. I’ll have to plan a full-fledged chat date soon.

Patsy—Thanks for stopping by. Glad to know I’m new-to-you and would love to send you a sample of my work. Drop an email to destinyblaine@yahoo.com with SAMPLE in the subject line if you’d like to learn more.

Nastassia—Steampunk Paranormal is more or less a cross-genre. For more information about Steampunk, visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk and for more information on paranormal, join us at Just Another Paranormal Monday: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ParanormalMonday/join

Annalisa—Steampunk is coming on strong and there’s a demand for steampunk books. If you’ll take a look at the link left for Nastassia above, you’ll see why. There are so many avenues an author can travel and the fantasy world opens right up for those of us who like writing about the unusual.

Bells—Glad you stopped by. Feel free to visit me on Facebook or MySpace: www.myspace.com/destinyblaine.

Haku—Keep in touch here and visit me on my blog as well. Thanks for being here.

SiNn_Thanks for all your support. I’m so glad you love my books and always look for you online when I’m blogging. :) Your question is a good one. As I mentioned in the interview, most of what I have promised or proposed will be complete and submitted within the next few months. I'm winging it from there and love that feeling. I can take my time and make sure the next series I start is by far the best series. Maybe I'll even spend a year writing one manuscript, who knows! :)

  24. Hi Tracey—Love’s Unselfish Gift will follow Damaged Goods and is by far the one story that will leave the Sports Wives reader’s mouth open. The men are drool-worthy. The dialogue is snappy and flows well between the characters and the story has a twist no one will see coming. I loved writing it and hope you’ll enjoy it too.

Thanks again for all the posts. Congratulations to Sharon! I’ll look forward to Sharon’s email! Also, bloggers are invited to join the following book groups on Yahoo:

  31. It's interesting the rapdily changing publishing industry. I have thought about getting an e-reader, but I don't know that I want to fork out the money for it right away. Ugh, I'm sure I will convert to digital format eventually...but like what if your computer crashes and you lose all of your books?
