Shannon's Thoughts:
The Snow Child is a lot like its Alaskan landscape: lonely, melancholy, and uncertain. There is a feeling of being at the mercy of the elements and of forces that can’t be controlled. It is a gorgeous book with beautiful haunting imagery that reads like a fairytale itself. The story is subtle and slow, but it isn’t boring. Jack and Mabel’s relationship is one of the stand out parts for me. Even after all their struggles and hardships, they remain dedicated to one another. You can feel their love and devotion towards the other. Its a quiet love, but a strong and enduring one. We need more relationships like that.
