Shannon's Thoughts:

I was pretty excited to read this.  I really like fairytales and I was intrigued to see a darker retelling of them.  And for the most part, these stories were pretty dark.  Some stories stayed truer to the original nursery rhyme and some deviated quite a bit.  And with all anthologies, some stories were a lot stronger than others.  But overall, I wasn't blown away.  Part of my problem, I think, was the short story format.  Sometimes it was hard for me to follow the stories and by the time I got into it, I was already at the end.  It made it hard for me to get invested.  I couldn't help wonder how some of the stories would turn out if they were able to be fleshed out into a full novel.
