Shannon's Thoughts:

Let me just say that I liked Legend a lot, but I really felt that Prodigy cemented my love for this series. I admire Marie Lu's courage to lay it all on the line. It's kind of like "what happens after ever after?".  While June left everything behind to save Day's life, in the end Day lost everything and June's involvement is not something they can ignore forever. There is no doubt how much they care for each other, but it would be unrealistic to assume that after everything they have gone through and how different their lives were, that there would be no feelings of doubt and resentment.  I loved that Lu took time to explore these feelings and it may sound weird, but I love when Day and June fight.  Because they fight like a real couple.  But underneath it all, they still trust each other and want to do what is right even when it might not be the easiest choice.

On top of that, there are is a lot of outside pressure from the Patriots and the Colonies, who both want Day and June for their own reasons.  Day and June are a hot commodity and are instrumental in rallying the people to their causes.  This puts Day and June in an almost impossible situation. But Marie Lu handles it all masterfully.  The action was intense and nail biting.  I could not put this book down.

I also give Marie Lu major props for writing two distinct voices for her characters...not easy to do!  Day and June's distinctive personalities really shine through their narrations.  And then ending....oh the ending.  Heartbreaking.
