Julia and Shannon's Thoughts:

1. Sum up your feelings in a sentence or two

Julia: Girl from Everywhere is exciting, a true adventure story full of pirates, time travel and treasure maps... I loved it! It is incredibly refreshing.
Shannon: I don't know if it was just the mood I was in or what, but this story really stood out to me.  I thought it was incredibly fun and interesting and it felt different than most other books out there.

2. What did you like?  What did you dislike?

Julia: I liked that there is a parental figure, and unlike most young adult stories, the relationship between parent and child is complicated. Slate isn't perfect but obviously cares and Nix is torn between helping her dad and doing what's best for herself. Just love that he is a strong character in the story and there is a lot of interaction between the two. The only thing I disliked is that it seems there is a love triangle developing. No, thank you! 
Shannon: My favorite part was also the complicated relationship Nix has with her dad.  It felt very genuine to anyone who has a complicated relationship with their parents.  That push and pull between wanting to help them and loving them, but also recognizing their faults and inadequacies.  The main thing I disliked was no fault of the books.  We had an ARC that did not have the maps!  So sad!  But, I also thought the love triangle development seemed a little forced.  

3. Who was your favorite character?

Julia: Slate or Kashmir. They are both fascinating and keep things interesting... both have an intriguing back story that gives their characters depth. 
Shannon:  I agree with Julia.  Slate and Kashmir are the richest characters.  Slate is one of those love to hate characters.  But I just love how complex he is!  Kashmir is very dashing - straight out of a story, haha.  I got a little frustrated at Kashmir and Nix's back and forth.  Just kiss already!

4. How did you feel about the ending?

Julia: Nothing really stands out about it, but there is a fine amount of action to lead up to it. Can't wait to see where they sail The Temptation next... Really hoping that Slate and Nix stay together awhile longer! 
Shannon: The ending felt adequate.  It probably could have been a stand alone and I would have been satisfied.  Those are my favorite kinds of books.  But I definitely liked where it left off.

5. What is your rating? 

Julia: I would rate it a 5 out of 5. Highly recommend to other fans of time travel, young adult or pirates :)
Shannon: I would rate it 4.5 out of 5.  I only docked that half point because I do think it can take awhile to understand what is happening and how it all fits together.  And the back and forth between Kashmir and Nix.  I don't have time for games, people!

Julia & Shannon - Joint Review! 

1. What are your feelings on this Grisha spinoff as a whole?

Shannon:  I was so excited!  The Grisha-verse is one of my favorite "worlds".  I also love that this series focuses on a part of the Grisha-verse that wasn't very well known from the Shadow and Bone series.  It felt completely separate, yet familiar at the same time.  I love that.

 

Julia: I am so thrilled that Leigh Bardugo decided to continue with the Grisha universe. The universe and Grisha are so fascinating and Bardugo is such an awesome story teller. I also love how separate this is from the other series, like Shannon said. It's an entirely separate journey with the same feel.

2. Did you like the alternating viewpoints?

Shannon:  I did.  But I like 3rd person.  Yes, you may not get into the deep inner workings of a character's mind, but I feel like you have a much more complete picture.  And rotating between the viewpoints kept things fresh and interesting.  I felt like you got to know the characters not only from their personal thoughts, but also from how they were viewed by others. 

 

Julia: I loved it. Kept the story fresh and moving. I get a better feel for every character with the switching of viewpoints. And the story felt whole that way. The characters are more vivid and alive - easier to feel a connection with. 

3. How does this compare to the other Grisha books?

Shannon:  I have a very special spot for Shadow and Bone.  It felt so exciting and different. I haven't quite fell in love with the characters in Six of Crows as much as I did in Shadow and Bone.  And Six of Crows is less romantic, with a darker tone.  But I can also say that I think Six of Crows was a better written and stronger book overall

 

Julia: This book is right on par with Leigh's other novels. It is well written, unpredictable and feels unique. I love it just as much as I do her other novels!

4. Did you have a favorite character, least favorite?

Shannon: I'm not sure I liked one character over another.  I liked parts of each of them.  I think my least favorite was probably Matthias, but it's by a small margin.

 

Julia: I keep trying to decide which character entertained me the most. I can't. They're all intriguing, witty and have depth.

5. What about the ending?

Shannon: I thought the ending was a tad predictable, but definitely left me excited and anxious to read the next book. That epilogue about killed me because I had so many questions! 

 

Julia: Boo! I didn't want it to end! I knew a little of what was to come, but it is still a solid ending. Though it will leave you dying for the sequel.

6. Rating? Recommending? Are we reading more? 

Shannon: 5 stars!  And yes, definitely recommended.  Leigh Bardugo 4 Life!

 

Julia: Definitely five stars! And everyone should read this. Leigh Bardugo fans, people who aren't fans, fantasy fans.... everyone. I will read just about anything Leigh Bardugo writes.

Julia & Shannon: Joint Review!

1. Give us the quick and dirty on The Wrath and the Dawn. 

Shannon: Well, I pretty much devoured it in one day.  The premise was good, the writing was great, the characters were fleshed out and interesting.  Parts were sexy as hell and it was fun to see where it drew on inspiration from Arabian Nights.  I have no real compliants other than some small niggling details.  They didn't dampen my enjoyment of this book, but they were there in the back of my head nonetheless.

 

Julia: The Wrath and the Dawn pretty much had everything I need in a good book. Romance, action, killer plot and three dimensional characters. I couldn't put this book down, the chemistry between all the characters made it so that I never wanted it to end.

2. What did you think of the world building and magic? 

Shannon:  I loved this Middle Eastern inspired setting.  Although, I thought it was a little strange to have real places mixed in with made up ones.  But I loved the setting over all.  The magic was also interesting.  There wasn't a whole lot of it in the book, but we are definitely setting up for bigger things.

 

Julia: The switch to Middle Eastern from the usual European setting in a young adult fantasy is brilliant. It felt refreshing. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't see more magic, but it seems like we're in for some more magic in the next installments. 

3. Are we team Khalid or team Tariq? Other relationships?

Shannon: Well, I'm Team Khalid...but I suppose we are kind of supposed to be on his side.  I like Tariq's conviction, but I wasn't as drawn to him as Khalid.  I liked Khalid and Shazi's relationship (again, parts were suuuuppppeerrrr sexy), but I couldn't help but think...why?  Shazi comes in with all these convictions, but falls for Khalid pretty fast.  Khalid basically loves her at first sight.  I didn't hate that they fell in love so fast, but I wish I could understand it better.  What exactly about Khalid does Shazi find so redeemable given his past history?  But, it is all so well written that you end up forgiving it a lot.  Other relationships I really enjoyed were Shazi and her maid, Despina, who basically calls her out on everything.  I also like Khalid and his cousin Jalal's relationship.  Not friends, but not NOT friends.  It works.

 

Julia: Obviously team Khalid when it comes to Shahrzad. Tariq is a good guy, but his good intentions are misplaced and I wasn't that interested in the parts that were from his point of view. Nevertheless, other than the hottness that is Khalid/Shazi's relationship, I loved the witty dialogue between Shazi and her haidmaiden. They bond and it's a great sisterly thing. All the relationships are truly compelling and really propel the plot. 

4. All those characters, who is your favorite? 

Shannon: Uhhh...I kind of like everyone.  But I guess Despina and Jalal are my favorites.

 

Julia: I love the Khalid and Jalal. They are my favorites. I love Jalal's wit and how he sees people, and I love how the Khalid is the strong, mysterious type with a sordid past. 

5. That ending. Are you satisfied?

Shannon:  Well, no!  Because now I have to wait until next year to read the sequel.

 

Julia: I can not even handle that I don't have book two. I felt like someone was squeezing my heart in my chest. WHAT happens! I really need book two. Soooo..... I'm not satisfied, but in a good way.

6. Rating? Recommendations?
Shannon: I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.  I think fans of fairy tales or fairy tale retellings could definitely get behind this book.  Fantasy fans, especially those craving non-European inspired settings, would also enjoy this!

Julia: 5 out of 5 stars. I am enamored, wished the book was longer. Loved the plot, the curse. Can't wait to see where the magic takes us. Fantasy fans that enjoy compelling romance intertwined with the plot... read this!

Julia and Shannon's Thoughts:

1. Sum up your thoughts in a sentence or two. 

Julia: End of Days is exhilarating and action packed. Full of wit and engaging characters.
Shannon: So much action!  It was non-stop.  I basically loved every minute of it and thought it ended the series on a high note.

2. What was your favorite part?  What was your least favorite part?

Julia: Wellllllll..... There is this part where Raffe and Penryn are spooning. It is at 8% if you're reading the ebook. That's my favorite part. I'm not saying much else, just, yep! But you also get to really see Beliel and why he turned out to be the angel he is. I loved that. My least favorite part? There is this part just before the end, and it is really long and drawn out and it sort of made me want to punch myself. I literally looked at the ceiling and was like COOOMMME ON!
Shannon: Haha, I know exactly which scene Julia is talking about because she texted me about it!  I think my favorite part was when we took a little side trip and got to meet some people from Raffe's past.  It was kind of silly how it happened, but I really liked it nonetheless.  My least favorite part was the lead up to the end as well.  There were an amazing amount of resources being used.  Where did they get it all?  Also, it was very sentimental, which felt odd since this series is very unsentimental.
 

3. How did you like this book compared to the first two in the series?

Julia: End of Days is right on par with the first two in the series. I'm really sad there won't be more. There are some new angels in End of Days, and I wish we would have gotten more time with them.
Shannon:  I think it is very hard to write three books that are each very good in there own right.  Some of the complaints about the second book are definitely rectified (ie, not enough Raffe).  I truly enjoyed each book.  I want more!!

4. Did you like the ending?

Julia: In my opinion, the ending is perfection. The characters that are there in the ending made me so happy. The ending scene made my heart warm. I really wish we would have gotten to that quicker though.

Shannon:  Um, loved it.  And I'm unapologetic about it.  It probably shouldn't have gone down that way, but I don't care.  I loved it.

5. How did you like this series overall?

Julia: Oh. My. Gosh! Everyone should read this series! It is so good. Can it be turned into a TV show or movie? I think HBO would really know what to do here. Why does it have to end???
Shannon: LOVE it.  I initially put off reading it because angels.  I just can't with the angels.  But this is an angel book for non-angel readers.  And I would also argue that it is much more of an apocalyptic book than star-crossed angel lovers as other angel series tend to be.  I thought it was fun and exciting.  I love the characters, like, a lot.  And I totally agree this should be a movie or tv show!!

6. What would you rate this?  Who would you recommend it to?

Julia: 5 out of 5. If you love fantasy, or dystopian, or angels, or just a kick ass plot  with dark characters, read this. SO GOOD.
Shannon: Same.  5 out of 5 for me too.  I devoured it and I'm so sad it is over.  I recommend it to dystopian/apocalyptic or action fans.  Angels aside, this is a fun series.

Shannon's Thoughts:

Admittedly, I approached this book cautiously.  Knowing the the subject matter, I was worried it would come across like Hallmark Channel movie. But I'm so glad I read it because, I adored this book.  Absolutely adored. It was just so well done.  It managed to pull on my heartstrings in a way that most books (especially contemporaries) don't.  I NEVER cry (unless an animal dies) and this one got me a little verklempt.  But not necessarily because it is sad, although Quinn's grief is palpable.  But it was her struggle with her feelings for Colton and the guilt she had over them that resonated with me.  I thought it was very realistic and showed how hard the process of moving on really is.

There was also the issue of know that at some point Quinn has to reveal who she really is to Colton and it is probably going to be a trainwreck.  But I was rooting so hard for these two that I was anxious about the Big Reveal.  They really help each other put their lives back together and find ways to live each day as the best day. It is exactly what the each need. I love these kinds of bittersweet, yet hopeful stories.  This book was really well written from beginning to end and I highly recommend it!

Julia & Shannon: Joint Review!

1. What were your overall impressions of this book?

Shannon: This was so much better than I expected!  It was fun, fast paced with great characters.

Julia: The Storyspinner is fascinating and fast paced. The characters are endearing and I was captivated by the storytelling. 

2. What was your favorite part? Least favorite? 

Shannon: I basically loved all of the awkward relationship pairings.  I loved watching Rafael squirm about Johanna.  And I liked Keepers Pira and Leao's "missed connections".  So good.  My least favorite part was what happens at the end to some undeserving people.  Very sad.  :(

Julia: My favorite part is probably when Johanna saves Rafael from a severe beating... For whatever reason, I loved it. There are many other thrilling scenes, but that one sticks out right now. My least favorite part is when people die. Can't say much else... but, awww booo ;(

3. What did you think of the characters? Who is your favorite?

Shannon: I really really enjoyed all the characters.  They are all interesting and fun in their own ways.  There are two main camps: Johanna, her brothers, Rafael and his brother Dominic and then the Keepers who are looking for their lost queen.  Both sides eventually converge and it is pretty great.  But I really liked that each character felt like they had distinct personalities and depth.  But I think my favorites were Johanna and Rafael, especially when they interact together.

Julia: The characters are perfection. Every one of them! I can't even choose a favorite. They grow over the entirety of the book and there are some that make you cringe and others that make you swoon. They all have such different personalities and blend so well. There is banter and depth and everything I ask for in a novel.

4. Did you like all the different Point of Views?

Shannon: Yes!  It was a nice change from first person POV.  The POVs shift back and forth pretty frequently, but I liked it.  I felt like I was getting a little bit from everyone all at once.  And I liked that we got quite a few different POVs too.  I liked the wide cast of characters.

Julia: Oh yes!! It made the storytelling so much more embellished and made the world come to life. I didn't feel like I was missing a damn thing, just the opposite actually. Usually with different points of view, I am antsy to get back to one character or another, feeling bored with at least one plot line- but I was excited to read from each. Never felt bored and loved bouncing around! 

5. Satisfied with the ending?

Shannon:  Yes, I was.  There were some parts that were a little silly if I think too much about it, but I don't care!  I liked it anyways!  

Julia: Yessss! Not really a cliff hanger, but the story and characters are so compelling that you're going to want to read the sequel anyway. 

6. Rating? Who are you recommending this to!

Shannon: I'd give this 5 stars!  I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  I think fantasy lovers will like this!

Julia: 5 Stars for The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace!! I'm still excited about this book, I was thinking about the characters long after I put the book down. Recommending this one to any Fantasy lover out there... maybe even those of you that don't like Fantasy. I just can't imagine anyone not loving this book.

Julia and Shannon's Thoughts:
1. Sum up your feelings in a sentence or two. 

Julia: Wow. This book gave me so much anxiety! It is intense and perfect, one of the best I tead all year. 

Shannon: I agree!  This book was giving me panic attacks.  Kestrel is in such a tight spot and you know that s**t is going to hit the fan eventually.  I basically wanted to read while covering my eyes.

2. How does this sequel compare to the first book?  Was there anything you liked better?  Anything you liked less? 

Julia: I think both books are brilliantly written. If you loved the first, you will love the second. I liked that it had me on pins and needles the entire time... I didn't like anything less.

Shannon: I think this one moves a little more slowly and intricately than the first and there is less of an emphasis on the romance between Arin and Kestrel. But I didn't like it any less than the first!  As I mentioned, having read the first book, I was kind of expecting the other shoe to drop at some point so it was much of an anxiety-ridden read for me.  It was definitely a darker read than the first as well.

3. Arin and Kestrel have a hard time coming together in this book.  How did you feel about it? 

Julia: I didn't mind because it made sense for the story. It made my heart pound out of my chest when they were together!! Nerves!! I hope they find each other in book three.

Shannon: Arin and Kestrel have almost insurmountable obstacles to overcome and it really shows.  Kestrel is in such a tight bind and barely able to stay one step ahead of the sadistic emperor.  I desperately want them to be together, but I very much appreciate that Rutkoski doesn't make it easy.

4. Besides Arin and Kestrel, who are your favorite characters?  What do you like about them? 

Julia: I am very intrigued by Verex, I want to get to know him better. I also loved Arin's surprising new friend. He is funny and sharp and offered a lot to Arin's storyline.

Shannon: Verex, the emperor's son,  is a definite new favorite of mine. Even though he seems like a push over, I think there is a lot more to him than meets his eye.  I want him to an amazing ally for Kestrel.  I really enjoyed their scenes together. 

5. Without spoilers, how do you feel about the ending? 

Julia:  I loved it!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhh!!!! Cliff hanger. 

Shannon: Dude.  Like another certain author (ahem *Maas* ahem), after reading the first book's ending, I had a feeling that the ending was going to be a killer.  I did NOT see this ending coming through.  Holy.  

6. How many stars would you give this book?  Who would you recommend it to? Julia: Five stars. Anyone who enjoys young adult has to love these books!

Shannon: Five stars!  I think Maas fans would also really enjoy these books.  They remind me of each other:  blooming out of a romance-y fantasy into a full blown complicated plot complete with treason, murder, betrayal and secrets upon secrets.

Julia & Shannon: Joint Review!

1. Fairest - What did you think?

Shannon:  I loved that we got to learn more about Levana - her complicated and fairly horrifying background.  It doesn't really change my feelings toward her, but it was definitely enlightening. It helps to understand her motivations for some of the things she does in the other books.

Julia: Fairest is absolutely captivating. You're rooting for this evil character, though you're a little shocked about her behavior (and her sister's!) It definitely makes you sympathize with her a wee bit. It's awesome to see the childhood of a villain, helping to understand who she is as an adult. I definitely didn't sympathize or root for her much in the end, but I still loved this story. 

2. We don't usually read novellas/prequels... Was this one necessary for the series? 

Shannon:  I generally don't like novellas, but I really like this one.  I think the length helped. It is nearly full length, so it felt like another books in the series.  I don't think reading this novella is necessary for the series, and I'm happy about that.  Part of my aversion to novellas is that sometimes they change the canon (*cough* Shatter Me *cough*) and I don't think I should have to read a 64 page story to change my perceptions of the storyline.  So, this novella won't really change anything you thought before, but it does give some background into why Levana is the way she is.

Julia: For whatever reason, I never want to read novellas, but something made me want to read this one. Shannon is right, the length made it more than just a short story- that's probably the reason. I was so entertained and was sad to see it end. It isn't necessary for the series, but you would be missing out if you didn't read Fairest. Levana's back story is fascinating. 

3. Let's talk a little about those evil Blackburn sisters... And other characters. 

Shannon: Yes, well, the whole Lunar royal family is a little...off.  I was kind of surprised by how awful Levana's sister was.  She was truly terrifying.  I should have figured out the connections and relations a lot sooner than I did (considering it is addressed in the books), but it was interesting to see how it all pulled together.

Julia: The lengths that Levana will go to in order to get the man she wants and the throne is astounding. Shocking even! But then you have her terrible sister- I mean, brutally awful older sister. Love how everything in Fairest explains things in the other books... The characters are three dimensional and geesh I wish this was a longer book. 

4. Favorite part? Least favorite? 

Shannon: My favorite part was learning about Levana's childhood.  I didn't really dislike anything.  There is a small part in the middle that lags a bit, but that is a super minor complaint.

Julia: I didn't have a least favorite part. My favorite part is definitely getting to know the parentage of the leading characters in the other books- and Levana's childhood. It just pulls everyone together! 

5. How did you feel about the time Fairest ended and how it ended?

Shannon:  I liked how it ended.  I felt pretty satisfied overall by the events and how they shaped our main story.

Julia: I liked how it ended, the time in the story when it did end. It gave us everything we needed. The ending is pretty intense though, it was one of those- come on! That's it! Now what! BUT, you get all that by reading the rest of the stories.

6. What is your rating? Who should read it and should they read it before or after already getting into the series?

Shannon:  I would give this 4.5 stars.  I think all the fans of The Lunar Chronicles would also enjoy it and should read it.  I'm tore on whether it would ok to read before the series...you would definitely put things together a lot sooner than if you read it between the 3rd and 4th book, so read at your own peril, I guess!

Julia: I would give it 5 stars. I was enamored and entertained until the very end. Everyone who loves The Lunar Chronicles needs to read this book. You can read it before you start or you can read it sometime after you read Cinder. I am glad that I read in the middle of the series because it made me appreciate Levana's story more.

Shannon and Julia's Thoughts:

1. Summarize your feelings for Illusions of Fate.
Shannon:  I just kind of adored it.  There isn't really a rhyme or reason to why but I found it to be a lot of fun, with interesting characters and a familiar yet unique setting.

Julia: Illusions of Fate is... magical. It will make your heart flutter. It is a fun, quickly paced standalone novel and the author did everything right.

2. Illusions of Fate has so many three dimensional characters, what did you think of them?
Shannon: I really liked how fleshed out the characters were.  They had flaws, but were immensely likable too.  They had a lot of witty banty, but without being obnoxious.  I especially liked when Finn, Jessamin and Eleanor are together.  I felt White did a great job of bringing the characters to life.  I could really get a feel for each of them as if they were in a movie in my head.

Julia: Everyone seemed so real. They all made sense, their reactions seemed to make sense. I loved how clever and funny they were too. The characters' personalities really complimented each other and all of them popped from the pages.

3. What about the romance? Chemistry?
Shannon:  Yes please!  I loved them together.  I loved the slow build and false starts.  I loved that they challenged one another and did not always see eye to eye (realistic given how different their backgrounds were), but it was also obvious how much they cared for each other, even when they didn't realize it themselves.

Julia: So much subtle romance and the chemistry is so perfectly executed. So adorable. It really pulled at my heart strings because line Shannon said, there was a slow start and false starts!

4. Illusions of Fate is a standalone- are you satisfied?
Shannon:  A standalone!  Hallelujah! Yes, I was really happy this is a standalone.  I was not happy to leave this world behind, but I liked that there wasn't some cliffhanger to contend with. 

Julia: It is such a relief to read a novel like this one that doesn't have a follow up! I'm getting tired of all the series. I am definitely satisfied with the conclusion!

5. What makes you want to recommend Illusions of Fate to friends?
Shannon:  I think this is White's best book to date.  I think it takes all the good elements of her previous books and makes them even better.  I think historical fantasy fans will like the Edwardian/Victorian feel of Albion.  I also think fans of Sherry Thomas' The Burning Sky will like this book!

Julia: It has everything. Romance. Action. Witty characters. Awesome plot. Defiantly one of my new favorite historical fantasy novels. 

6. What is your rating? Why!
Shannon: I'm giving it 5 stars.  I just had a lot of fun reading it!

Julia: 5 stars!! It had such a good feel to it, I really enjoyed myself.

Julia and Shannon's Thoughts:

1. Soooo...whaddya think?

Julia: Blue Lily, Lily Blue is just as fun as its predecessors. I didn't want the story to end and all of the characters seem to be growing. I love it!

Shannon: This series will make me a Stiefvater fan for life and this book was no exception.  It maybe wasn't as flashy as the previous two books, but it laid some solid groundwork (and opened some interesting theories) for the final book.  I've always thought that the sum would be greater than its parts and that Stiefvater is playing the long game, meaning that the series as its whole will be better than any one book.  Stiefvater has a clear vision and is not giving anything away.

2. Let's talk ships.

Julia: So Adam and Ronan are legit growing on each other but they still have great dialogue.... but my favorite relationship (for now) is Gansey and Blue. They're slowly coming out of their shell and their relationship is changing and it is sweet and subtle and I can't get enough.

Shannon: Here is the power of Stiefvater's writing.  She can give us the littlest things and make it seems like the biggest thing.  A look, a touch, a thought.  I love Gansey and Blue.  No wait, I am tortured by Gansey and Blue.  But Adam and Ronan crept up on me in this book.  Whether they are just friends or something more, I am totally on board (and secretly hoping for more). 

3. What was your favorite part? 

Julia: My favorite part is always the witty dialogue. But my favorite part is also a sad part and I can't tell you what it is. Even though I didn't want this to happen, I didn't expect it at all and it made me sad, soooo ya know.

Shannon: The writing.  Just...the way Stiefvater writes.  I'm not usually one to fan over writing, but there is something to precise, yet lyrical in the way she writes. 

4.  Was there anything you didn't like?

Julia: I didn't like how prominent Piper and Greenmantle are in the story. I actually really enjoyed learning more about Greenmantle and his relationship with Piper IS interesting... but I would have rather heard from the gray man. or Maura. Or any of my other favorite main characters.

Shannon: You know...I kind of agree with Julia.  I wasn't that interested in Piper and Greenmantle too, but I can see why they got their parts of the story.  I wanted to hear more from Maura as well. 

 

5. What do you think about this series overall?  How does this book fit in with the previous books?

Julia: The Raven Cycle series is absolutely mesmerizing and magical. It is a roller coaster ride and Blue Lily Lily Blue fits right in with the previous two. I feel like each story grows with the characters and Maggie Stiefvater has this way with words! Ahhh! I'm a fan.

Shannon: This series is just...gah!  I don't really have words to describe it.  I love how layered it is.  Every books peels back another layer and I never really know where Stiefvater is going with it.  The writing is superb.  The characters are fresh and real.  This books fits in right along with the other two.  It may not have as much action as the previous two, but I definitely think it is the calm before the storm.

6. What would you rate this book?  How would you rate this book compared to the previous two? Julia: Five out of five stars! I enjoyed this book more than the previous two. If that's possible. It's hard not to, because Adam is such a better character in Blue Lily Lily Blue. 
Shannon: I give it 5 out of 5 too.  I would put this on par with the others, although I think The Dream Thieves was still my favorite (that ending!).  But as Julia points out, Adam was a thousand times better in this book!
